Ondansetron is a drug that selectively inhibits serotonin 5HT3 receptors. 5HT3 receptors are located on vagal nerve terminals, enteric neurons in the GI tract, and centrally in the brain in a region called the chemoreceptor trigger zone.
This medication is not frequently used in veterinary medicine, but it appears to be well tolerated. Side effects such as constipation, sedation, extrapyramidal clinical signs (head shaking), arrhythmias and hypotension are possible. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Keep away from children and animals. Ondansetron should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug.
Store at room temperature. Protect from light.
