Mycophenolate Mofetil is a drug that suppresses the immune system. It works by decreasing the activity of certain cells that make up part of the immune system to help reduce the risk of organ transplant rejection.
Possible side effects include diarrhea and loss of appetite. Mycophenolate Mofetil also works to decrease the immune system in general, so infections are a possibility while your pet is taking Mycophenolate. It may also increase the risk of certain types of cancer such as lymphoma.
*** Use Mycophenolate only under close medical supervision. Warning do NOT give Mycophenolate Mofetil to pregnant animals. Use during pregnancy is associated with increased risks of first trimester pregnancy loss and congenital malformations. Veterinary staff and pet owners should wear gloves and wash their hands after being exposed to either the drug itself or pets urine. Keep away from children and animals.
