Misoprostol helps the stomach protect itself against acid damage. It also decreases the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
* Misoprostol should not be used in pregnant animals, due to the potential for causing abortion. *** Pregnant women should avoid handling medication; can cause miscarriage. Wear gloves when handling. Give with food. Common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal/stomach pain, vomiting, and flatulence (gas). These may only last a few days and giving with food may help, but if any of these are severe, get worse or continue to be a problem, contact your veterinarian.

-If you suspect your pet has an overdose, contact your veterinarian immediately.
-Signs of an overdose include diarrhea, vomiting, seizures, and weakness.
